(Bora Bora) Intercontinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa
The InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa is the fourth resort in the portfolio of InterContinental French Polynesia resorts.
Opened in May 2006, the resort lies on a virgin beach on the Motu Piti Aau (meaning “two hearts” in Tahitian) along the eastern side of Bora Bora and is accessible only by boat.
The resort features 80 overwater bungalows and two beachside villas (perfect for traveling families). The InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa features an eco-friendly air-conditioning system, deploying a 7,874 foot pipe (the deepest ocean pipe in the world) to a depth of 3,000 feet off the reef of Bora Bora. The pipe pumps ice cold, deep-sea water through a titanium heat exchanger, transferring the cold into the fresh water circuit that then powers the air conditioning throughout the hotel.
The Deep Ocean Spa is the centerpiece, but the resort offers lots of cultural and recreational activities to fill your days including canoeing, kayaking, snorkeling, stargazing and handicraft demonstrations.
